Tis the Season for Cozy Apple Crumble with a Crispy Oat Topping


Cozy Apple Crisp
Ingredients
Oat Topping:
- 90 grams of All Purpose Flour ¾ Cup
- 75 grams of Granulated Sugar ¼ Cup + 2 Tablespoons
- 75 grams of Brown Sugar ¼ Cup + 2 Tablespoons
- ½ Teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon
- 40 grams of Oats 6 Tablespoons
- ¼ Teaspoon of Kosher Salt
- 84 grams of Unsalted Butter, Melted 6 Tablespoons
Filling:
- 5 Granny Smith Apples
- 1 Tablespoon of Lemon Juice
- 50 grams of Granulated Sugar ¼ Cup
- ½ Teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon
- Pinch of Kosher Salt
Instructions
Oat Topping:
- Preheat your oven to 375° Fahrenheit.
- In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, oats and salt.
- Add the melted butter and stir to combine. The mixture should look crumbly.
- Place in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Filling:
- Remove the core and peel each of the granny smith apples. Slice ½” thick.
- Place the apple slices in a large bowl. Toss with the lemon juice.
- Whisk together the ¼ cup of sugar, ½ teaspoon of cinnamon and salt.
- Pour the sugar mixture over the apples and toss to coat.
Assembly:
- Pour the apples into the baking dish and press down.
- Scatter the oat topping over the apples making sure to cover all the apples.
- Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 50 minutes, or until the apples are bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
- Serve warm with sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
