Best Ever Cannoli Milkshake

June 16th is National Cannoli Day and I’m celebrating a little out of the box with my cannoli milkshake made with Farmland Fresh Dairies Heavy Cream and Real Whipped LIght Cream.

Imagine, all the great flavors of a cannoli, but in a milkshake. Ricotta Cheese, chocolate, orange and pistachios.

STAR BAKER TIPS:

⭐️You can make your own cannoli shells or chips using my recipe here . Or, you can go to any bakery that sells cannoli and ask to purchase an empty shell. You can even garnish with the chips instead of the mini cannoli. It’s totally up to you.

⭐️Drain your ricotta overnight. This will remove a lot of the liquid which will cause your shake texture to be thin instead of nice and thick. Place the ricotta in a strainer set over a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator overnight or optimally, 24 hours.

⭐️Leave the ice cream in the freezer and the heavy cream in the fridge until just before you make your shake.

⭐️Just have fun with it!!!

Best Ever Cannoli Milkshake

Ingredients

  • 1 Large Empty Cannoli Shell
  • ¼ Cup of Coarsely Chopped Roasted and Salted Pistachios Divided in half
  • 3 Ounces of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Divided in 2 Ounces & 1 Ounce
  • Cups of Vanilla Ice Cream
  • 3/4 Cup of Drained Whole Milk Ricotta Cheese Place in a strainer over a bowl and refrigerate overnight to drain
  • 4 Tablespoons of Farmland Fresh Dairies Heavy Cream
  • 3 Tablespoons of Powdered Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon of Orange Zest
  • Farmland Fresh Dairies Real Whipped Light Cream
  • 2 Mini Filled Cannoli for Garnish

Instructions

  • Melt 2 Ounces of the Chocolate. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • Crush the large cannoli shell into coarse pieces and mix with half of the chopped pistachios. Place the mixture on a plate.
  • Spread the melted chocolate around the rim of the 2 (10-12) ounce glasses and about 1 inch down from the rim on the outside. Cover the chocolate in the crushed shell and pistachios.
  • Coarsely chop the remaining 1 ounce of chocolate.
  • Place the ice cream, drained ricotta cheese, heavy cream, powdered sugar, orange zest and half of the chopped chocolate in a blender and mix until the ingredients are completely blended.
  • The mixture will be thick and you might need to use a tamper to get it blending. If your blender does not have a tamper, stop it occasionally and mix it with a spatula and blend again. Don’t be tempted to add additional cream or milk or your milkshake will have a thin consistency.
  • Pour the shake into the prepared glasses and garnish with whipped cream, chopped pistachios, chocolate and the mini cannoli.
  • Serve Immediately and Enjoy!!
